This is an idea dump, a manifesto of sorts for the life I want to live.
It's easy to earn the label of 'nomad'; all you need to do is travel. But the far more challenging task is to actually maintain the mindset of a nomad, whether you're in transit or have deep-seated roots.
Sometimes, I lose hold of my connection with the nomad spirit, the one that lends a sparkle to my life and that infuses my daily living with passion and joy. That's when I need to remind myself of what it really means to be a nomad.
In one such moment, after realizing I'd become lost in the mire of work, routine, and the blah-ness of unfulfilled living, I took a cigarette break with my friend and work buddy, assessed the state of affairs, and returned to my computer to jot down my core ideas and beliefs for returning to a nomadic mentality.
This mentality is one that can apply to everyone, everywhere. It's not about travel: it's about living a lifestyle that lights you up. I invite you to take whichever parts of it resonate with you!
We are nomads.
Nomading is an identity.
It's not where we are, it's who we are.
We take the spirit of adventure with us everywhere we go and in everything we do.
Our Mission
Every day should be extraordinary, even if just in the small moments.
We're about optimizing our daily lives, our selves, and our community of adventurers by finding the magic in the little things.
We believe in living with intention and doing things that fill us and light us up from within.
It's not about checking the boxes of what we're told is right or fun or cool; it's about pursuing the things that actually feel meaningful and that turn our ordinary existence into something worth living.
The Methodology
Question yourself. Question the life you've been instructed to live. Ask yourself what you believe in, what you want, and what you can do to help steer your life in that direction.
Repeat the process as needed and keep adjusting. You'll know you're in the right place when you begin to wake up each morning with passion, motivation, and a thirst for life.
Ideas for Implementation
1. Journal sessions.
Discover your whys. Explore within. Utilize intention-setting to make the most of each day/week/month. Prompts in different categories can be helpful.
2. Host (impromptu or otherwise) Music Jams, Paint Nights, etc
Tap into creativity - your own and others. Creativity begets creativity.
4. Intentional Shabbats
What does Shabbat mean to us? How can we make our weekends special and meaningful and allow them to fuel us for the week ahead? How can we structure them in a way that enhances our lives and helps us grow?
5. Seek Adventure.
Travel around the world, but more importantly, travel around our own neighborhoods. Visit museums, events, etc.
6. Be a Giver.
Give to our friends and our community by taking initiative, making events, and fostering an atmosphere of growth. Encourage each other to make things happen.
7. Personal Pursuits
Try something new. Commit to a class or activity you can do throughout the week to fuel your own creativity, excitement, and growth.
8. Physical Movement
Whatever you'd like. Just make sure you move your body! This can be your (or one of your) personal pursuits from number 7.
9. Love
