As a NYC local, I figure it's time we shine a spotlight on this amazing city and all that it has to offer.
Whether you're trying to plan a visit and make the most of your time, or you're an NYC/ TriState area resident who's looking for local adventure, this one's for you!
Here's a list:
Walk the Brooklyn Bridge and tour Dumbo area (right off the bridge) along the water. Check out Empire Stores and Time Out New York for food and drinks and good vibes. The Brooklyn Historical Society museum is there too - It's a great little museum.
South Street Seaport area is near Dumbo and is also pretty cool. Go in evening for beautiful dusk/ unset and then grab dinner in the area.
If you’re into history, then go to the lower east side and walk around Check out the Eldridge Street Museum and the Tenement Museum for Jewish history. Then, stop at Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC for kosher, gluten-free treats.
Soho is really good for shopping and boutiques, and has some good restaurants (byChloe is vegan and delicious).
The FIT museum is small but great for fashion lovers.
Times Square (42nd street) is a classic if you've never been. Walk through!
Bryant Park and Rockefeller Center are amazing. During the winter, the holiday markets and ice skating are lovely. In the summer, Bryant Park is also nice.
Central Park is beautiful and good to chill. Explore midtown and start at the bottom of the park (59th street) for high-end shopping on 5th avenue, then continue on for a picnic in the park.
Go further up in the park toward Museum Mile which is where all the museums are. The Cooper Hewitt museum is super cool, American museum of national history is excellent, the Moma and the Met are classics. The Guggenheim is great for modern art. Afterward, stop at Russ and Daughters Cafe in the Jewish Museum for a kosher-style lunch and then hang out in the park. I also recommend The Frick Collection - beautiful building and gorgeous art.
The Whitney Museum in Chelsea is a great modern art museum. Afterward, hit up Highline Park, New York City which is close by. You can also stop at the Tesla store and test drive a Tesla (shoutout to Sasha Berkowitz for this nugget of info!). Walk around Chelsea, its a cool area! Stop at all the art galleries. then, head to Chelsea Market for lunch or dinner.
The Starbucks reserve is a cool new version of Starbucks, it’s a bar and a cafe in the Flatiron area
if you want to tour the Statue of Liberty make sure to book that in advance because the lines are crazy long otherwise.
From battery park you can catch a boat to governors island. lovely day trip. rent bikes there and bike around
the oculus by ground zero near freedom tower, it’s a beautiful area and it has good shopping
